Sophia Reese, born 09/12/2005 was diagnosed with Alpha-1 (ZZ) in Dec. 2005, and had a liver transplant 12/24/06 at Seattle Children's Hospital.  She continues to battle rejection of her new organ, but is currently stable with the help of 2 medications (down from 10).  Every 6 months she has blood work (notice her arms) to monitor her liver functions and her medication is adjusted accordingly.  Every 6 months we make the trip to Seattle, where she has an ultrasound and a complete evaluation.  Sophia is our greatest teacher, her innocence refuses to surrender and her smile infects you with pure joy.

Tatum Josephine, born 05/17/2004 was
diagnosed with Alpha-1 (ZZ) in Feb. 2006, and is currently stage 2 (of 4) liver failure.  She is monitored with blood work and is seen at Doernbecher's in Portland.  Tatum's disease is a slower progression than Sophia's, and so we must wait for her liver to fail in order to start the transplant process.  She has a beautiful spirit that captures your heart with nothing but love.

Abigail Katherine, born 03/03/2003 is an Alpha-1 carrier (MZ) and has no signs of the disease.  Her love for her sisters is the most incredible thing to witness!  She has come to know many roles, from big sister holding hands during blood draws and hospital visits, to a friend on a sunny day--she is a pure soul.

Everett Woodson, born 03/18/1997 is an Alpha-1 carrier (MZ) and has no signs of the disease.  He is the big brother with a tremendous amount of patience and love for his sisters.
